The Equine Psychotherapy Institute (EPI) model is a psychotherapy and trauma-informed model.

What is Equine Assisted Learning?

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is where clients are offered experiences with horses for the purpose of building social, emotional and relationship skills. EAL is a unique approach to personal development.
It could include:
• Confidence building
• Relationships (personal and work)
• Boundaries
• Exploring self beliefs
• Working with goals
• Exploring behavioural patterns
• Team building
• Change in personal or career direction
EAL sessions held here at GG Equine Assisted Learning are suitable for all adults looking towards self awareness, personal development and exploring your relationships, patterns and beliefs that no longer may be serving you well.

What is involved in an EAL session?
All sessions are held outside, providing an opportunity to be in nature and in a unique experience outside of room based sessions.
Following an initial assessment, sessions are tailored to the individual and focus on the specific needs of the client.
Each session will offer the client a safe, relational experience with one or more horses, this might include spending time with the horse, touching, leading, grooming or other experiences that will explore the client’s learning goals.
These sessions are not riding lessons or a mounted experience and you do not need experience with horses to benefit from an EAL session.
Why horses?
Horses are amazing animals that live in the ‘here and now’. Horses can offer a non-judgmental, authentic connection. As herd animals horses can reflect how we are in relationships, how we communicate with others (and ourselves) and how we show and respond to our thoughts and feelings.

What do I bring?
As all sessions are outdoors, with horses, it is recommended that you wear enclosed shoes, suitable clothing for the season and bring a hat and water.

How long is a session?
Sessions are 60 minutes.

Where is it held?
All sessions are held at Cowboy Up Trail Riding facilities.
